ePub and videos

Hi there,

Even if i know much of the readers such as Sony, Kindle, etc., can't read videos, some devices like iPhone, netbook and the future Apple Tablet can read ePub AND videos, so...

Can we imagine ePub with video that could be supported and red by those devices ?
In this case, does video in ePub really works and does the ePub file is not to big if it contains severals videos ?
Is .swf the only way to bring video in an ePub file ?

Thanks for your answers.

It is not part of the standard but can be done as a nonstandard extension. See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23395 and http://blog.threepress.org/2009/11/1...video-in-epub/

Thanks for the links.

I'd already knew Lisa Daly's solution, but not the other thread, so thanks.

By the way, it seems only a few readers can read ePub with video, even on computer or netbook, none with talking about iPhone.

We noticed ADE, but what more ?

Can we please stop the nonsense about this mythical Apple tablet? It doesn't exist and even if it was to be announced, we have no idea what capabilities it will have. Personally, I'm hoping the announcement is not this tablet.

I'm sorry, but what the matter with what I was talking about ?

I'm just asking what kind of device can support ePub with embedded flash videos...

I don't get on this point.

Use the HTML5 solution and not the swf (flash) solution if you want it to work on devices that don't support flash (e.g., iPad).

HTML5 features are not supported in epub OPS documents. Neither is SWF for that matter...
