Calibre v8.0 kepub features?
I'm a new kobo user, and my library is mostly built with .epub files. I just looked over the changelog for v8, and saw the mention that calibre can now convert files on sync to .kepub. Can someone explain why I would want this? My .epub files seem to work well so far, but I've only read a couple books so far. Am I missing something?

If you have already installed the KoboTouch Extended plugin then it will be automagically converting epub to kepub when sending books to your device. In calibre v8 that now happens without needing the plugin. So you dont need to change anything. If you havent installed the plugin and you want to actually read EPUB rather than KEPUB on your device, then you just need to untick the setting in the driver to "use kobo viewer for EPUB books"

The main benefit is the Kobo renderer is faster and crashes less, especially on larger books. There are other minor things like reading progress bar graphs, better standards support, etc.

Windows 10, 64 bit.
Just installed V.8.0, but it doesn't start. Someone said one should delete the KoboTouchExtended driver, but how can I do this when the program itself doesn't run? |

If easier:
(1) Install previous version of calibre (7.26) (2) Delete the plugin "KoboTouchExtended" using the calibre functionality: Preferences -> Plugins -> (select plugin) -> Remove plugin (3) Install calibre 8.0 This should probably do the trick. |

Is this customisable per library? I read primarily on KOReader, so prefer epubs, but my wife uses only Kobo stock on her Libra colour, so converting to kepubs would be great for her library |

V.8.01 starting as usual. thank you all for the help!
As far as I understand, the KoboTouchExtended driver has been automatically disabled by the new version. Does this driver still have any functionality at all? Otherwise, I can remove it completely. |

No, it's a driver setting but you can further optionally specify a template to decide which books should be sent as KEPUB.
