Risks of bricking a paperwhite.

Hello!

I see multiple threads about how to debrick a paperwhite,
but has anyone seen a really bricked one (that you can't save with a usb cable? ) and is there anything that can be done about this?
What are the risks of this happening?

Thanks!

1) No

2) Find the "Magic Key" to put the Kpw in "downloader mode" - then KUBRICK can be extended to handle the Kpw

3) Depends on just what you intend to do to it.
If the damage done to the firmware image is restricted to that portion which the Amazon "upgrade" full images replace, they can be used to restore the device (if you can still put the image on the user storage partition).

So: Tell us how inventive you are at breaking the device, we can then guess at what your chances of fixing it is.

I have to confess: This one made my day.

I was only thinking of rooting the device and installing new screensavers.

Anyhow, since you mention the magic key, when is this used and what ways would there be to find it?

Does your paperwhite have special offers? If so, you can't put your own screen savers on it unless you buy out of them.

Look for the Touch/Paperwhite jailbreak thread and read all 60 million pages. Don't skip the first page!
