IMO this should be a sticky post, just like FBReader180 does have one.

ADE vs pdfviewer vs adobeviewer

What's the difference between these apps? Is adobeviewer PocketBook's port of ADE? What about pdfviewer?

Aobeviewer is the app to read the DRMd PDF files, which have to be authenticated with ADE (Adobe Digital Edition).

PDFviewer is the opensource viewer on the PocketBook, it also can open the PDF files but it doesnt have DRM support.

In addition, AdobeViewer is the only app on the PocketBook which properly displays the CSS styling in epubs, whether they have DRM or not. It does a better job with epubs (in my opinion) than fbreader but is not as flexible.

Is it possible for someone to make the hacked AdobeViewer.app from 15.2 available for download again?

The download link above does not work anymore.

I would be very thankful.

As far as I know, the simple edit which created the hacked AdobeViewer app for v14.2 and v15.2 doesn't work with v15.3. One of several steps backward (IMHO) in the brief time I had v15.3 on my PB360.

Someone did say that the v15.2 hack will run. Naturally any new features present in v15.3 non-hacked AdobeViewer would be missing.

Can someone upload the hacked to version to a non-rapidshare location?

Hi !
I installed the modified AdobeViewer.app a few monthes ago.
Last week, I upgraded my PB360 to 15.3, then I checked the AdobeViewer.app file with a hexadecimal editor : it is still the same, with the same modified userStyle1.css string in it.
So : 15.3 doesn’t change AdobeViewer.app, and the hack is still working, and you can safely install it on 15.3.
Enjoy !

Hey guys,

Old thread but the idea is still great.

I tried to use this on new Pocketbook Touch with unhacked (original) AdobeViewer.
Touch has blank UserStyle.css in /system/fonts/adobe.
File looks as just a placeholder, any attempt to fill it with content winds up with automatic overwriting it by the same blank file (just body{}).
So I made this file read-only, filled it with Tselling's suggested content, and copied fonts to system/fonts.
Interesting that AdobeViewer in Touch is affected by changes made to css file (I set very large left margin and this worked).
However, font stays unaffected.
Maybe someone has Touch and can figure out why this happens?
Could be that path to fonts changed or Linux mount changed name for Touch?
