Unfortunately it looks like you can't separate synch and update, I've followed a couple of threads where it was discussed but I don't think there is a sure way to synch the device (for Pocket or for just reading stats) and prevent it from upgrading to the latest FW. For now I keep my Wi-Fi off, I have the famous Wi-Fi bug that drops the connection anyway so I'm waiting on Kobo to fix that first, then I'll consider upgrading my FW as long as it won't interfere with CoolReader which is my priority above all on my Aura HD.

As I mentioned I don't use Pocket, so if it is using the sync process to download the things you have tagged in Pocket while browsing on your PC, you would not avoid the forced update.

I wonder if Pocket can be setup to download the articles (formatted for your Kobo) into a folder on your PC? Then you could "sideload" the folder onto your device. Or have calibre do it for you?

Or you could just select refresh from the Articles menu and it downloads your pocket articles and nothing else (doesn't sync your library, load content or update reading life, or Awards, and as far as I can tell it won't download a firmware update either at least it never has for me).

I have a kobo aura hd with firmware 3.0.0, and when use coolreader, the on/off button don't works for me, then, i can't wake up kobo when it is in stand by.

Does this button works for you with 3.0.0?

It works well with on my Kobo Glo with 3.2.0. Please:

1. set log level = 2
2. reproduce this problem several times
3. send me your launcher.log.txt file (from vlasovsoft)

Cannot use Cool Reader after I used the MultiTouch320 kernel on my Kobo Glo on 3.3.0 firmware without any other patches except night mode hack.
Have to do a pin reset as the screen gets stuck on the Launcher interface.

Is there a way to use CoolReader without the launcher? Else can the launcher be please updated to support the multitouch kernel on the Glo?
Latest KOreader working fine with above MultiTouch kernel.

Latest KOreader working fine with above MultiTouch kernel.

It is possible to use CoolReader without the launcher, BUT since CoolReader is depending on the same touch/mouse driver as the Kobo laucher, it would not work with MultiTouch320.

how? starting cr directly isnt a big deal since we can set it to autolaunch in menu, but it would be really nice if coolreader would exit directly to nickel. without returning to menu first.

or is there a way to completely deactivate the menu? please let me know.

Okay, I am trying hard to forget it. I am glad you love it and I hope you installed the most recent version. If not, you will have to uninstall it before your device updates to a newer FW.

I ran into a nasty issue with CR3: disabling "Embedded Fonts" crashes Cool Reader.
In my case it was actually worse, as I set the launcher to go straight to CR and CR to open last book - checkmate, as you don't get a chance to revert the setting.

I ended up going into \.kobo\vlasovsoft\cr3\data\cr3.ini and manually set the value back to 1.
Not sure if this was reported already and/or if there is a bugtracker. I'm running v37

Oh, and I forgot to ask: is there a way to add dictionaries? I saw this as a request in this thread a while back (dec 2013) but not sure if anything was implemented.
I kind of favor CR vs KOreader...and completely forgot about the default Nickel reader.

Hi Ladies & Gentlemen!

I DO like the coolreader, and I would prefer to use it over the standard reader. But - and this is serious but for me - my Aura HD will not go to sleep. Not with cover, not by button. When I exit teh launcher it seems that it has those commends somewhere in memory, because it wil go to sleep few times. As well, the light button does not work while in coolreader but setting the light via setup works.

Any ideas?

And just to be clear - newest version installed, on vanilla Kobo update (no patches) firmware 3.3.0.

And - maybe that is a clue as well? Same situation with Koreader. Cannot go to sleep.

I would really appreciate any ideas you might have.

I don't have the HD (just the 6" Aura) but for me CR sleeps just fine. Unlike Koreader....which seems to be a known issue (see the relevant Koreader thread).
With CR, I always open the cover and see the random picture indicating it was sleeping.

I have 3.3.0 and launch through Start Menu.
