I personally am a fan of using EIPS 2 38 ¨Mystuff¨
and keeping reports less than 38 (or something) characters wide. (one liner) Since this area is mainly not invasive and often overwritten. A report like your bigger layout report I would be happy to have as a document in documents. like ¨stuff¨ > /mnt/us/documents/LockStatusReport.txt or similar. and push down an index refresh. just in case Either way though I like the flash readout too. Feeling kind of stupid with this question, but it is Friday....If one ever wants to remove this hack (the KUAL version) is it necessary to turn it off first before deleting the folder (inside the extensions folder) so that auto-updates happen automatically in the future?

I would certainly say so. but I would have to give the scripts a read.
Provisionally I would say YES And I would also echo that sentiment for all extensions that make system amendments that survive a reboot. Remove /rollback any changes prior to the extensions uninstallation. Perhaps I will expand upon that somewhere in a support doc? |

The same can be achieved by using the _uninstall.bin package, even if the hack was never actually installed. |

Thanks for all the tests, reports, suggestions and doc updates.
You are all awesome. Concerning the screen corruption problem: I plan to use a different approach in version 4 - the lock state screen will be displayed for 10 secs with a countdown and then doc refresh will be forced via DBus, that should restore the screen on all models. The lock state will be also dumped to "documents/backdoorlog/Back Door Lock state.txt" if, and only if, subdirectory "documents/backdoorlog" exists. Thus you will be able to turn this feature on/off just by creating/deleting the subfolder. |

Version 4:
Added a README file The lock state screen will be displayed for 10 secs with a countdown and then the screen will be refreshed by simulating GoingToScreensaver/OutOfScreensaver sequence. The lock state will be also dumped to "documents/backdoorlog/Back Door Lock state.txt" if, and only if, subdirectory "documents/backdoorlog" exists. Spoiler:

Tests as okay on a 3 far as I can tell so far also
Like the new report. Did wonder about suspending cvm (killall -STOP cvm) PRIOR to displaying the report and then re-running it (killall -CONT cvm) just before your screen "refresh". (power cycle) This would stop the underlying UI "peeking through" the EIPS -c for the 10s of the report. Also... I dug out the combination of commands to do the refresh if [ -e /proc/keypad ]; then echo "send 102" > /proc/keypad; fi lipc-set-prop com.lab126.appmgrd start app://com.lab126.booklet.home 2> /dev/null As you know each command has no effect on the "wrong" device. Just saying that hanging cvm and using the home flush method may be a tad less intrusive and get the same results (as the power cycle). I'll shut up. nice extension. EDIT: For some reason that is NOT refreshing the touch / PW??? Last edited by twobob; 02-18-2013 at 12:19 PM. Reason: as the power cycle. TOUCH PW not working for update. |

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll use them in the next version of the extension.
The "MENU key" trick is very useful, works in both K3 & K4. Much faster then simulating screensaver. |

Hmmm with V5 (KUAL) the refresh didn't work on my PW - I've still got the top 2 lines showing even though it did the countdown thing.
