Question Hi from sunny Oz

Hello from mid-summer in West Australia - it reached about 103 Farenheit today - don't like the heat so have been mostly hiding indoors.

I am in the process of researching e-readers to find one that suits me best. My ebooks are mainly Mobi or eReader format, but I can't seem to find one reader that will handle both these formats. At the moment, I am leaning towards the EcoReader for Mobipocket and various other formats, and an iPod Touch for eReader format. Comments and suggestions would be welcome.

Welcome to MR, Zina

There are lots of devices out there and even more going to be announced at CES in a couple of days.

A place to check is the MR E-book Reader Matrix. Plus, of course, all the forum threads to see what is being said.

Have you checked out Calibre for doing format conversions? That way you could convert the format to one you could use on a different Reader. Calibre has its own forum on MR and Kovid (Creator of Calibre) participates.

Just ask if you want to know something and a friendly forum member will answer or point you in the right direction.

Have fun on the forums.

Hi Zina and welcome to MobileRead. I have a Sony 505 and buy a lot of books from Kobo because, when you download them, they are available on your both your iPhone as well as the Sony.

Not only lots of your country-mates, but some of them may even be fond of the same breed of dog as is in your avatar, Zina, (Airedale, right?) and, in fact, have two of them currently looking for the cools spots in the house.

Cheers,
Marc

Thanks for the welcome, all.

Dreams, I'll check those out, thanks.

Marc, yes - Airedale terrier - I met my first Airedale about 20 years ago and have been totally hooked since then, and am currently enjoying the company of my 6th Airedale named Teddy, and he doesn't like the heat much either.

Cheers.
