Search & Replace Help

I have the following strings in Conversion -> Common options -> Search & Replace

Quote:

Replace with nothing. The purpose is to remove these useless anchor links.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work. Maybe the regex is wrong.

It works fine when I do it with Sigil.

Looks like changing

Code:

<a class="([^"]*?)" id="([^"]*?)"></a>

with

Code:

<a class="(.*?)" id="(.*?)"></a>

does the trick.

But why is the former regex working in Sigil and in the Quality Check PI and not in Calibre conversion?

Why not simplify on one regex:

Code:

<a( [^>]+)?></a>

Not sure why it wouldn't work in the conversion settings though.

I may be doing something wrong after all.

With this regex in Search and Replace...

Code:

<a( [^>]+)?></a>

this doesn't get removed when converting epub to epub

Code:

<a id="page34"></a>

Edit: It does get removed if I convert a second time but not the first time.

Like I said, no idea why any of these should fail during conversion.
