Shortcovers turns iPhones into electronic books

According to this article, Shortcover expects their software to be turning iPhones into electronic books by month's end with the release of a mini-application that lets people read books, short stories or other written works in a direct challenge to electronic book devices sold by Amazon and Sony.

You will notice there is no byline.

They couldn't find even an intern green enough to attach their name to that shameless blurb.

Also says book pricing is .99 per chapter, which makes most books very expensive. The last book I read had almost 30 chapters.

A screen large enough to read on comfortably?

There was a new article I found today calling a pending Shortcovers release "The Kindle Killer". (When will they learn?)

I just heard about Shortcovers due out soon. I am in Canada & this could be a big thing for me. Hopefully, they will offer downloads for actual e-readers, not just iphones & smartphones. For the record, the 99 cent downloads are if you only want one chapter (travel books, etc.) Full books will be about half the mfgrs. price. Right now, most of the ebooks available in Canada are in US dollars, which makes it a lot higher with the exchange.

However, if the eBook price is half the mfgrs. US price, then it would be about $6.50 CDN instead of $8.50-14 CDN, so it's still better than retail for a paper book. The US eBook pricing is one of the reasons I started to read eBooks in the first place. It may cost me more than someone in the US based dollar conversion, but it's still a savings in the long run.
