OK, so that's 99 € for the Kindle (sans touch) at Amazon Germany. That's 135 US$ at current exchange rates. Even Apple isn't that brazen in ripping off its European customers. A big "thank you - not" to Amazon. The other models aren't even being offered at Amazon.de.

The idea is though that you store your content in the cloud, hence don't need much local storage. That may not be an idea that you want to embrace, of course, but it's the model that Amazon are going for.

I'm surprised more isn't being made about the cloud. I don't think any other company implements a technology like that yet do they? Obviously there is cloud storage up the wazoo, but as a worldwide cache...thingy?

I don't like the new Amazon covers The light is vastly more ergonomic but I will miss the K2/3 ones. Love those.

Also, the old lighted cover is 1.8 oz, the new is 4.5 oz...this can't be correct.

This is the model that's selling for $109 in the US. $109 is €80.06 Euro. Add VAT at 19% and you get €95.27. €99 doesn't seem like an outrageous mark-up to me.

It looks like the cover includes a built-in plastic shell that the Kindle fits inside of. If so, then the weight is correct.

Nah I just weighed it on the kitchen scale, it's almost 8 oz. Unless, I'm missing something obvious.
