The Five Elements - A character driven fantasy adventure
Hello,
The Five Elements is a character-driven blend of fantasy, alchemy, and pseudoscience. Find out more about the novel as well as read a couple of excerpts here: http://www.scottmarlowe.com/books/TheFiveElements.html What Readers Are Saying "The Five Elements is an enveloping story that drags you in and doesn't let go. I enjoyed it immensely." - Timmain, Amazon.com & Goodreads reviewer "Wow - just wow. Scott blends magical realism, elemental powers, alchemy and mechanics into a fascinating story. The setting, characters, and action are superb." - T. Harmony, author of The Akasha Series "...an interesting take on the concept of the four elements of classical antiquity, with a well-realized world and some likeable and intelligent main characters." - S. Pemberton, Amazon.com reviewer What It's About Aaron—scholar, alchemist, and sorcerer's apprentice—wants nothing more than to study his tomes, perform his experiments, and spend time with his closest friend, Shanna. Substitute the occasional romp about the city for the books and plenty of games of crutchit for the smelly alchemicals, and Shanna is just fine with that, too. Their routines—and their lives—are thrown into chaos when an elemental attack is launched against their home. Aaron thinks Shanna killed, while Aaron himself is forced to flee for his life. For Shanna, who survives that fateful night, the greatest adventure of her life is about to begin. Only the worst of nightmares awaits Aaron: pursued by dwarves, hell hounds, and a demon who will not stop until he is dead, the only thing keeping him alive is his own resourcefulness and an eslar mercenary whose reputation as a killer might make him the worst threat of all. Though Aaron and Shanna travel different paths, their purpose is joined when they individually learn of the mysterious Fifth Element. Shanna sees it as the final piece in the puzzle that is her destiny. To Aaron's logical mind, it is an impossible ambiguity. Whatever the answer, the Fifth Element draws them back together and into a final confrontation not as allies, but as adversaries. Thanks, GeckoFriend, and thanks to everyone who downloaded. I'm trying new things--getting away from a 100% reliance on Amazon, for one--and the turnout for this was pretty good.

Thanks for this. I'm generally not much of a fantasy reader, but between the decent sounding blurb and the price, how can I resist?
Or is it just that I'm half-expecting the the two lead characters to look like Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich? |

I really wanted to call it The Fifth Element, but since that name was taken... Hope you like it. Last edited by scottmarlowe; 04-24-2012 at 07:43 AM. |

Great book! It was well paced and kept me engaged. Lots of twists and turns in the plot so it wasn't predictable. I look forward to buying the rest of the books.

The Five Elements (The Alchemancer: Book One) has a new cover. (You'll have to scroll back up to see it since I'm not allowed to post more than a single image/thread.)
What do you think? This kind of kicks things off for the release of the next book, which is scheduled for Fall 2013. It's called The Nullification Engine and hopefully is as entertaining as The Five Elements. Most of the characters are back, and they'll be picking up right where they left off. Getting closer to the release of the next book in the series, so why not have a 99 cent sale for the first book? The Five Elements, regularly $3.99, is on sale today for 99 cents.

You are incorrect. If you will go back and re-read our posting guidelines for self-promotion, you will find that you are - indeed - allowed to post a new image if the cover image has changed. Of course, if you already did change the cover in your post #1, then you are not allowed to include another image. Don (Moderator) |
