NY review of books recipe fails
For at least the last two days, the New York Review of Books (subscription) recipe has quit running after perhaps a second. I'll include the error report below, but these excerpts probably identify the problem (a certificate problem, which I have no competence to fix):
1) In the first traceback: File "ssl.py", line 1040, in _create File "ssl.py", line 1309, in do_handshake ssl.SSLCertVerificationError: [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: certificate has expired (_ssl.c:1123) During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred: 2) In the second traceback: File "mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 414, in _call_chain File "calibre\utils\browser.py", line 28, in https_open File "mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 1240, in do_open urllib.error.URLError: Here are the full details: Spoiler:

The SSL certificate on the NYRB server has expired. Contact them and hopefully they will update the certificate.

Thanks for the quick response.
FYI: I emailed this to NY Review of Books: "It appears that the SSL certificate on the NYRB server has expired." They replied: "We are not seeing this problem. Can you provide more information/the URL you are visiting?" My reply provided the two URLs I found in the recipe. I also provided the traceback's statement about the SSL certificate expiring. That is as far as it has gone to this point. |

That might also be caused by an intermediate certificate not being updated in the windows certificate store on your machine. See for example https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...postcount=1139

Once again, thanks for the quick response. I followed JHowell's procedure in the message you linked to. Success! Now I just need to tell the NYRB web people that the problem was on my end.
