This sounds like blaming the pilots. Don't do that. But this isn't really the right forum for such a discussion.

I was blaming Boeing for their belief that the pilots would not require any retraining on the differences between the older 737 and the 737 MAX controls.

However, I'll let that topic go from now.

I'm sorry for bringing it up in the first place.

I do wonder how they'll pay for those planes though, another prime price increase? They may have started to price people out of prime perhaps?

Could be. Maybe Amazon should buyout FedEx or UPS instead of creating its own air delivery.

That might cost a bit much though. UPS market cap is 70B-ish, FedEx is 43B-ish.
And you generally need to pay more than a company's worth to buy it.
And given the political climate regarding Amazon, the government might not allow it.

I would say the national enquirer thing did Bezos's odds of doing that in, or would have before November 2015.

Buying the planes is a way to reduce the cost of providing the service.

Amazon Loses FedEx Express Deliver

Quote:
Amazon better double down on its Prime Air drones. With Amazon Prime Day just a few weeks away, FedEx today announced that it's partially ending its relationship with Amazon.

The company said it will not renew its domestic FedEx Express contract with Amazon so that it can work with other retailers. Deliveries made via FedEx's Express service typically arrive overnight or in two to three days.

"FedEx has made the strategic decision to not renew the FedEx Express U.S. domestic contract with Amazon.com, Inc. as we focus on serving the broader e-commerce market," the company said via a written statement.

It's not clear how this may affect Prime member purchases. According to FedEx's statement, Amazon accounted for less than 1.3% of FedEx's revenue in 2018. Moreover, FedEx will still provide Amazon with other delivery services such as FedEx Ground and FedEx's international services.

Nevertheless, the news is sure to throw a wrench in Amazon's plans to roll out 1-day deliveries. It could also cause some shipping lag on big shopping days like Amazon Prime Day.

Amazon did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

Was reading this s article on Prime Day:

And this surprised me:

Quote:
...Now 59% of U.S. households are Prime members, according to RBC Capital Research.

Free returns with no box, tape, or label needed

Quote:
Amazon makes returns even easier with thousands of free drop off options for millions of items.

Our goal at Amazon is to make buying online – and returning – as easy as possible and we are expanding free, convenient returns on millions of items for our customers. In fact, most customers will have at least one free return option included on millions of items purchased on Amazon in the U.S.

We understand that finding a box and tape, and printing a label for a return can still be a hassle. Now, most Amazon returns are easier than ever with no box required. After getting a QR code from the Amazon Return Center, items can simply be handed to an associate without a box or label, and they will pack and ship it for free.

Our free, no-box returns are available at:

Amazon Physical Stores
Customers can easily return eligible products at Amazon Books, Amazon 4-star, across the U.S. Customers simply need to walk in to our convenient and secure locations staffed with helpful associates, show the QR code, hand over their package in the original manufacturer’s packaging, and walk out. Returns are also free at AmazonFresh Pickup, and Amazon Hub Locker+ locations but customers will need to bring their items in a box or box it up using the provided materials.

Kohl’s
Amazon customers are able to return eligible items at 1,150 Kohl’s locations across 48 states, without a box, for free.

Whole Foods Markets
Select stores have no-box returns, lockers and Locker+ options with more coming soon.

The UPS Store
Customers can also choose to return eligible items free of charge at more than 4,768 UPS Stores nationwide with no box required for most items.

Most items fulfilled by Amazon will qualify for a free return option. For customers who prefer to choose a packaged drop off option, that choice will remain in addition to other options, some which may require a fee. All return options will be clearly shown in the Returns Center to ensure customers can select the available option that best suits their needs.

Customers can buy with confidence knowing Amazon has great selection, fast shipping, low prices, and easy, hassle-free returns.

Curious if this will be a permanent change....Amazon seems to have combined a couple of options and is now offering me the $1 digital discount for choosing delivery on my weekly Amazon Day - no rush is gone completely. A few months ago they were offering to deliver add-on items on that day, without the $25 minimum order, but that disappeared fairly quickly. Maybe just testing to find what will get people to use the weekly option?

Just as a guess, they are still trying things out to see what works and what doesn't.
