Impossible to launch Calibre.
Hi
I have been using calibre for several years on Windows 10. For about 15 days Calibre no longer wants to launch. I have reinstalled several times by deleting all files, dll, registry keys, etc. With versions 7.20 or 7.21. I tried with Calibre portable impossible to launch Calibre. The "calibre-debug -g" allows from time to time an opening of a few seconds. Launches once with calibre-debug -g with the administrator command prompt, then closes without comment. Who can provide a solution to this problem. Attached file the results of "calibre-debug -g" Thanks. |

Looking at your debug log, the only odd thing I notice is the line: Failed to read metadata from font file: c:\windows\fonts\photse__.ttf unpack requires a buffer of 18 bytes Did you try Windows safe mode, to see if it runs without other programs interfering? https://www.wikihow.com/Start-Windows-in-Safe-Mode FYI, a search for that ttf file returned a malware analysis page: https://www.hybrid-analysis.com/samp...ironmentId=100 |

Calibre Won't launch
Hello.
Thank you for your reply. Calibre launches in safe mode. But does not launch in normal mode. I have done a malware scan with malewarebytes and with Microsoft MSRT in safe mode. Windows Defender has been installed on the computer for a long time. The computer is up to date. I have deleted the "Photoscore.ttf font". I have uninstalled and reinstalled Calibre 64bit-7.21.0 but no improvement. The "calibre-debug -g" does not indicate anything new. Does calibre start if you Run it as administrator?

I have the same problem. I think there is a conflict between Calibre and display graphic card driver. Nobody has a solution for now...

Mine is GeForce GTX960. Drivers updated. I've noticed that during drivers reinstallation, in that moment between old and new driver, I can open Calibre. After installation I can't.

I've had a GeForce GTX1060 since 2017, works fine, using the drivers it shipped with. I'm a firm believer in the "If It Ain't…" maxim when it comes to hardware drivers… especially video adapter drivers.

Yes, but when occurs any problem everyone says: "update drivers"... I have to try with previous drivers.
