"Loading Next Section..." what exactly is happening?

What is the purpose of the "Loading Next Section..." that appears between every page for certain books? More specifically, what can I do to get rid of it or speed it up? Tried toggling from turn-by-page and turn-by-screen-fulls but had no effect. Is this 'calculation' done locally by the browser viewer and so the speed depends on javascript and not the speed of the server or the bandwidth to the server?

Its loading the next html file in the book, and all loading is local. Books are stored in the browsers local storage.

But why does it only happen for certain books and not others?

Book 1 needs the loading screen (sample page):
Quote:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:ops="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops"><head><meta charset="UTF-8"/>
<title>Stargazing</title>

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../styles/0001.css"/>
<meta name="viewport" content="width=739, height=1075"/>
</head><body>
<div class="spread spreadi">
</div>
</body></html>
Book 2 does not need loading screen (sample page):
Quote:
<!DOCTYPE html SYSTEM "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><meta charset="UTF-8"/>

<link rel="stylesheet" data-app-amzn-ke-created-style="data-app-amzn-ke-font-style" type="text/css" href="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"/>

It happens for all books. How long it is visible for will depend on how fast the page loads.
