Nova pro hasn't reached my country yet but I was considering regular Nova anyway since the only difference is pen and I don't find it useful on a small screen. Plus it adds another layer to the screen which already has more of a light grey hue than white. I quess Nova makes more sense than Note Pro, especially since for a price of Note I can buy Nova and very decent tablet for pdfs. Thank you all for recommendations.

I then added that the only reason one might still consider the Note Pro is if one has a very large collection of books/manga.

Some people have huge collections and want their entire collection on their device even if they are sitting at home. That way they don't have to continually go to a computer to transfer files if they want to check something. It's all on their device. That's why you find quite a few people in various forums lamenting the fact that many ereaders no longer have micro SD card slots.
Those new android eink e-readers, as any ios or android lcd tablet, should not have much problems with an additional portable storage (without the need for any wired or wifi connecting with our pc/tablet/smart-phone or to any internet cloud service) since there are various affordable and pretty small external wi-fi flash memories available for quite some time now.

If only it were that simple... The problem in relation to Onyx ereaders, and I suspect many of the other eink ereaders currently on the market, is that they do not have a proper USB host controller. As such, you cannot simply plug in a thumb drive and access the files on it as you are able to do on most tablets. You cannot even use a wired USB external keyboard with these devices.

From what I understand, the ereaders do not provide power to these external devices when you hook them up. I seem to recall that some people were able to get such devices working with their ereaders by using special cables which connected the device to an external power source... Not really an ideal situation.

I'm talking about wi-fi enabled thumb drives & storage here, though, so there is no need for any usb connector or for any other type of wired connection, because those drives create their own wi-fi nework (hot spot), so also there is no need for an existing wireless network either, we just connect those thumb drives to our android/ios tablet using their own wi-fi signal and appropriate ios/android app for our tablet/ereader, or if possible just web-browser.

Regardless of its version 802.11 a/b/g/n, actual download speed over such wi-fi network is not great (usually 1-5 MB/s i.e. 10-50 Mbps), if compared to any faster wired connection, but is still good enough for pdf/ebook file transfer and video/audio streaming.

Okay, now I see. Very interesting devices. Look like they would be a great fit for my Onyx devices. May have to get one for my wife, too as she is constantly running out of storage space on her ipad. Thanks for sharing.
