Not so. It was indeed designed to prevent key jams, but it did this by separating common English letter combinations. Slowing down the typist was no part of the design.

There are 26 episodes of the radio series "Cabin Pressure" by John Finnemore. Each episoide is named for an airport, with the first episode being "Abu Dhabi" and the last (still to be broadcast) "Zurich".
And yes, the remaining 24 were written in alphabetical order. |

The nebular hypothesis is the most widely accepted model in the field of cosmogony to explain the formation and evolution of the Solar System; it suggests that the Solar System formed from nebulous material in space.
(I'm combining two pieces of trivia with a semi colon. ) Sorry. I didn't see this until now. Hmm... Good question. Probably another forming sun and passing star? lol Last edited by trichobezoar; 11-17-2014 at 01:30 PM. Reason: Added quote and answer. |

My little bit of moderator trivia: It's very hard to keep P&R to the P&R forum!
While the original King Arthur was probably fiction (or not called Arthur!), we might have had a real King Arthur if Prince Arthur, Prince of Wales, hadn't died of a mysterious illness in 1502. |

The combination "ough" can be pronounced in nine different ways. The following sentence contains them all: "A rough-coated, dough-faced, thoughtful ploughman strode through the streets of Scarborough; after falling into a slough, he coughed and hiccoughed.".
That's why no one can spell. |
