Launching server with VPN library?
Hi Everbody! Not sure if this has been already addressed somewhere else (sorry if it has!).
I have a very large calibre library on a storage-VPS machine with very low RAM and the calibre server is now almost always shutting down very soon for lack of memory. Instead of moving everything on a different machine with higher memory and the same large size HD, I was wondering if it could be possible to launch the server command line from a different machine, still in the public domain and connected to the library through an open VPN? E.g calibre-server --log /home/log.txt --daemonize [path to a different machine library folder] Possible? And in case it is, would there be any specs required by calibre in the the path definition? Many thanks to all! L |

Well you can make the library folders available via NFS or sshfs or something similar. But note that network filesystems are extremely flaky, so things may or may not work.
