I think this is a really exciting announcement. A Win8 Intel-based tablet that will run all my existing laptop apps, and which has a neat keyboard in the cover. I want one!

The keyboard cover does look cool. I look at it and think, "why didn't Apple do that for the ipad?" I don't have an ipad so I don't know what 3rd party keyboards there are for it. Any as cool/light/integrated as the Surface one is or appears to be?

I haven't seen one. All iPad keyboards work with Bluetooth, to the best of my knowledge.

yes all the iPad ones work over bluetooth. the Surface covers work over Microsofts magnetic power and data connection http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/14/m...t-application/
too funny that Engadget speculated that "it's not likely to arrive in a product yet" and here it is a week later I'm assuming there will be some other accesories coming that can work over the port. speakers etc Im hoping for a large monitor with a dock at the base so you can simply set the tablet onto the dock and have a larger display to work with at the desk and still use the tablet as a second monitor(with out the need for plugging in an hdmi cable) |
