Yes, you can uncheck (hide) any column in Preferences ==> Look and feel ==> Book Details (tab)

That only hides them in the right side of Calibre. I'm talking about the one you get when you press I on the keyboard. See attached image:

And there's more of the complexity: figuring out about related calibre features.
I don't know if there's any way to control what appears in the Calibre Book Details dialog--I don't use it. Looking at the calibre code, it doesn't look like there is. So you can either:

Well from me I didn't even know that calibre feature existed so no problems here with it showing up.
As for the saved metadata it is certainly very useful, not so much right now that I have mostly put the metadata to write somewhere but still can be used and back when I started using it would have saved me a lot of trouble from having to spend weeks going through all stories in small chunks because I hadn't created columns for certain metadata and now wanted them. |

However, it does respect the order that you list things in the book details panel, which means you can move it to the bottom at least. |

Hello once again!
I have a question about replacing metadata (again). For example, I have the tag "Jotun Loki" - and I change this by putting: Code:
replace_metadata: character=>Jotun Loki=>Jötun!Loki How do I know which category a tag belongs to? Thank you for your help! Suzana |

FanFicFare metadata entries don't quite map perfectly to AO3's labels, though. What AO3 labels "Fandom" is put in both fandoms and category in FFF. "Additional Tags" -> freeformtags and genre. "Relationships" -> ships. By default (using the include_subject_tags ini parameter), extratags, genre, category, characters, ships, status are all included in calibre's Tags column. If that's not clear enough, please give specific examples of stories and which metadata you're trying to figure out. FYI, in addition to replace_metadata, there are also include/exclude features. For example, I use: Code:
exclude_metadata_pre: freeformtags,genre==Other Additional Tags to Be Added warnings==Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings warnings==No Archive Warnings Apply |

Hello Jim!
Thank you very much for your quick rreply! I have another question now: Do I have to put the change for both in the personal.ini? Code:
replace_metadata: category=>.*Avengers.*=>The Avengers fandom=>.*Avengers.*=>The Avengers http://archiveofourown.org/works/219...apters/4803567 I want "Memory Loss", "Tony has issues", and "Jotun!Loki" to be changed. So I am going to add into the personal.ini Code:
replace_metadata: freeformtags=>memory loss=>amnesia genre=>.*has issues=>Drama freeformtags=>Jotun!Loki=>Jötunn!Loki I'll just experiment, but I wouldn't want to blow up my ini-file... |

You might also consider adding ^ and $ so that it only matches those strings, eg: Code:
replace_metadata: freeformtags=>^memory loss$=>amnesia genre=>^.*has issues$=>Drama All of this is only needed because AO3 lets anybody assign any tag they want. I've been debating adding a feature to look up (and cache) AO3's tag hierarchy, since they've started equating random tags with more general ones (see Humor for example). But it would be quite a database. |

If you're talking votes regarding the project, I'll vote yes, and help if I can?

Hello and thanks again, Jim!
I appreciate your help very much. I think with the links to the wiki-pages you provided and some testing I will get the most commonly used tags under control. I tested a bit, and I have this problem: When I add something like this: Code:
replace_metadata: freeformtags=>^Protective Thor$=>Thor&&freeformtags=>Protectiveness Edit: I changed it to Code:
replace_metadata: genre=>Protective Thor=>Thor&&genre=>Protectiveness Code:
replace_metadata: genre=>Protective Thor=>Protectiveness I still do not understand why "freeformtags" does not seem to be accepted. Last edited by firefoxxy; 05-17-2015 at 07:59 AM. |

Site Support requests - X-files related sites noted
These are highest level addresses. If you need specific examples of further paths, let me know.
The Gossamer Project: The X-files FanFiction Archive (the following sites are mirrors - the first is the initial request with the others provided if needed or possible). All are ACTIVE. http://fluky.gossamer.org/ http://tooms.gossamer.org/ http://krycek.gossamer.org/ ftp://ftp.gossamer.org/stories/ (this one seems to be the main storage of the above and does not contain the navigation links within the other pages. Ephemeral - The X-files Fanfic AutoArchive ACTIVE http://ephemeralfic.org/ Am I requesting this correctly? It's my first attempt. |

So, I'm getting an error since I updated to the last version of the plugin, the beta posted 5/15. I've got calibre updated to latest version, and restarted multiple times, as well as restarting my computer just for good measure.
I may have updated calibre to latest version before I started getting this error, I'm not really sure if there were problems before. The first time I noticed it I brushed it off because I was doing some conversion in the database, and I just manually updated the fics I wanted instead of trying to restart to see if that fixed the problem. Whenever I try and get urls from an email I get the following: calibre, version 2.28.0 ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>TypeError</b>:unsupported operand type(s) for -: 'set' and 'list' calibre 2.28 [64bit] isfrozen: True is64bit: True Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE') ('Windows', '7', '6.1.7601') Python 2.7.9 Windows: ('7', '6.1.7601', 'SP1', 'Multiprocessor Free') ... Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre_plugins.fanficfare_plugin.fff_plugin" , line 451, in get_urls_from_imap_menu TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for -: 'set' and 'list' I can give you the plugin list if you need it, but I have a lot of them and the post will already be cluttered. |
