Exclamation Authors that number Book Series Starting 0.5 {Prequel ??}

Several Authors that number Book Series Starting 0.5 {Prequel ??} I Wish They Wouldn't Do This But They Do... Does Calibre Have a Plan for this ???

Example: (This Author is not the ONLY Author to do this either ...)
Debbie Macomber Numbers Her Rose Harbor Series Starting 0.5 {Prequel ??} and she sequences them as Follows 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 etc. Note: Picture Attached

Can't you just change the number in the calibre 'Series' column to include the '.5' bit?

Yes. Just use '0.5' in the series_index. It is a float, not an integer, and will accept that without a problem.

0.5 means a short story or novella that comes in order before the first novel. This does not always mean a prequel. So when you do see numbering with a decimal, just remember it's a short story or novella.

.5, 1.5, 3.5, etc. will work fine in Calibre. It's not so much that authors are doing this. It's the way things are done on sites like Goodreads and has caught on with some authors for their own sites & store listings (some still use whole numbers for every short, etc.). Makes more sense than giving a short or novella a whole number IMO.

I Tried the .5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 etc and I Get a Zero at the End of All the Decimal (Fractional ) Series Numbers, the Formating Looks Very Bad, because calibre adds a Zero for All Decimal (Fractional) Numbers entered into the Series Metadata ??? So 1.5 Becomes 1.50 and 2.5 Becomes 2.50 etc. And .5 or 0.5 Becomes 0.50 ????

Yes, it does. I don't exactly see where '1.5' is any better than '1.50', but if that's what you want, you can create a custom column with the numbers formatted to your liking.

Yes, it will become 0.50, 1.50, etc. the number means the same thing. As mbovenka mentions, if you want things to display differently maybe look into a custom column.
