PRS-600 My EBook Library stopped working

I have just joined the forum hoping that I would find the answer to my problem, but can see there are loads of other interesting topics too. So will be spending much time looking at the other forums and threads etc.

However......

I have been an PRS-600 owner for a few weeks now in the UK. Have managed to buy a few books and install them. Have also installed an sdhc card and that works fine too. A relatively happy bunny.

I was charging the reader last Saturday (7th) and while the pc was on (Vista SP2) a couple of Windows Updates took place. I rebooted the system after they had installed. Now, I am not sure exactly when but .... now the EBook library seems to start (it shows up as a process in task manager but not as a application) but there is no GUI?

I have searched and searched but cannot find the answer to this.

I have reversed the Windows Updates - but still have the same problem.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the Library software - but still have the problem.

I have gone back to the original version of the Library that came with the Reader - I was updated to 3.0.1 - but still have the problem.

Maybe someone here has had the same problem and managed to find the fix.

Yep, I knew I'd find the answer here sooner or later.
It was in the thread "Sony Ebook Library Problems? Come Here First"
Now, how do I get my books back from reader into the Library?

You should be able to drag and drop from the reader into the library-when the reader is connected....or re-download the books .

I have had the PRS 600 for exactly a month now. My ebook library also stopped working yesterday. No GUI but the system manager says it's running (in the background, I guess). The problem first started after I updated my Windows XP a few days ago.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing the software, and system restoring, nothing worked. I read somewhere about the DEP solution but couldn't find my elibrary.exe file.

Sony had just sent me an email about their program upgrade v. 3.1 that will come out on December 11. I hope it works!

Any solution prior to v. 3.1 will be appreciated. Thanks.

Other than uninstalling the eBook Library software, removing all files associated with the eBook Library software (ie Marlin and Kinoma), and reinstalling the eBook Library software using these instructions from sony I don't have any other suggestions.

The executable for the eBook Library is called "eBook Library.exe" on my Windows PC.

Thanks! I found the folders that contain the files to be deleted. My elibrary is running again.

For XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\kinoma
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Marlin
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%( i.e. you windows log in name)
\Local Settings\Application Data\kinoma
C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Sony Corporation
C:\Program Files\Sony\eBook Library
