How to get a library card
I live in a wonderful country but.......
Local public library has fewer books than I do (a serious lot fewer) I can't get a UK card without going there, and the two USA libraries that would sell me a card without actually going there need a cheque. I don't have a USA bank account, so that is out. Ideas, anyone? |

Is one of the US ones the Free Library of Philadelphia? In the past they've taken credit cards for folks from outside the US... https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...t=philadelphia ...I don't know if that's still the case (the thread is pretty old), but it might be worth checking into if you haven't already. |

Thanks folks. I don't know about Western Union, but one of them is indeed the free library of Philadelphia. Worth a call!

Toronto Public Library will allow membership for non-residents for a payment. I'm not sure if they mail out the cards... Discussed in this thread:

Thanks, Cdesja5 and piperclassique. I may try Fairfax, but Toronto's a little too expensive for me.

hmm, what about starting an international consortium for the distribution of ebooks to everyone? I'm talking about a global library of course, not advocating piracy.

If you guys want a US credit card, issued by a US bank, you can try USunlocked. I use it whenever nothing else works.
