I recently finished Hyperion and found it to be very good. I do have the next book in the series. But be aware that there are a lot of OCR mistakes in Hyperion.

Not really that odd. eBookMall has changed their site. They no longer sell Mobipocket format eBooks. Just ePub & PDF. So unless Mobipocket sells A Canticle For Leibowitz, there's no place to actually get it legally.

There was a PDF link on the site also, and it no longer works. Both worked when the Poll went up.

They must have stopped right after I bought mine, because it's in .prc format, and I suspect a few other members could say the same.

Looks like Mobipocket (other then for Kindles) is a dead format. Makes sense for eBook stores to stop selling it given Amazon's announcement.

Too later after all
Thank you for the replies.
It appears that I am too late after all. Perhaps someone will figure out how to setup a used ebook store. Maybe I'll have better luck next month. Enjoy your read everyone. |

A nice thought. Unfortuately, we don't purchase e-books, we purchase only a non-transferrable license to read them. I expect e-books to decimate the used book market. Oh, used books won't disappear, but the size of the inventory will be a shadow of its former self. It's one of the reasons my older sister hates e-books. "Evil," she says. "Perhaps," I reply, "but oh so convenient."

Clueless much? Read what I posted and you will see what I said (I hope). That makes your reply WRONG and a big FAIL!

Did you actually read the part that says (other then for Kindles)? This has nothing to do with liking Kindles or not liking Kindles. The reality is that Mobipocket as a format for purchase is dead. Sure, when the DRM is stripped from an AZW you get a Mobipocket file. But the issue is that Amazon is killing off Mobipocket (with the standard Mobipocket DRM). So basically, what we will have will be ePub, AZW, & KF8. |
