Reading stats
E-readers provide the opportunity to analyse reading in real time like never before by simply logging what we read and when. Wouldn't it be interesting to know:
Readers, writers and publishers would all benefit from these insights so why are e-readers not recording the data? Or are they? Am I missing something? Is there any add-in software that does this? |

I love data and would enjoy parsing a pile of that, but I wouldn't pay a penny more for my reader to be metrics enabled and a lot of people would cry foul is the manufacturer or proxies collected the data.
That said, maybe some enterprising coder will develop an app for that! |

Built in to the ereader? No thanks. Don't do loyalty cards and block webbugs. No need for advertisers to have any more information on me than they already have.

Personally, I always find that as soon as I begin quantifying anything, it becomes less of a hobby and more of a job. I just don't feel the need to "keep score" on my reading.

If someone wants to create an app, feel free to do so. It doesn't interest me. I read at the speed that I read, I'm not interested in what speed others read.

I read a lot today. If things work out like I plan, I'll read a lot tomorrow. That's all the "reading data" I'm willing to provide anyone (including myself) with at this time.

While it would be cool to see, I probably wouldn't look at it past a book or two just for the novelty of the data.

The Kobo Touch records a lot of these stats with its Reading Life feature.

If I knew exactly how little time I spend daily reading, I'd be quite depressed.

The reading stats screen in Duokan offers a few of the personal reading stats. Not all that exciting after you look at it a few times, you only confirm that some authors and styles take a whole lot longer to read
