Kobo WifFi (Ko2) popular for Christmas in Australia
Borders AU online show out of stock for online ordering. I wonder if this reflects store stock levels as well?
Got to be good news for for ereader sales though... |

They'd have even better sales if they had more in stock though...

So Kobos are selling out across the country probably, and I hear the Sony 650s are too. Surely this means that the state of ebooks in this country is going to improve even more quickly now, and maybe we'll see less ridiculous geo-restrictions? One can always hope.

The crazy part is that in a country with (a) a high literacy rate and (b) an addiction to gadgets, WHY none of the ebook readers were available in Australia until recently? It was a sure bet that they were going to sell. A complete lack of vision.

Well to be fair (sort of) there were ereaders available in Australia and in true Aussie fashion they were over $500 to purchase.
That's a lot of hard earned cash for a single purpose gadget. Kobo started the trend being the first affordable ereader device available over the counter at brick and mortar bookshops. |

It's the same here in New Zealand - they are even advertised on TV! Wait 'til all the newbies start buying books - and discover the frustration of geographic restrictions. Hopefully viviena is right and the number of readers will lead to change.

I've noticed Kobo is still making big prices on Oz eBay too.
Some of those offered are 1.0 I was curious so asked the Q of some sellers ... |
