It's here!!!!!
Sorry, I know I shouldn't have started a new thread for that, but I am just so excited I had to share! My Pocket Pro arrived about 20 minutes ago! That's fast! So I've got it charging, and will start using it tonight!
Ok, sorry, I'll let you all get back to what you were doing now... |

I love to see enthusiasm!! Don't forget to do the firmware upgrade on: www.theEZreader.com/html . Although your device just arrived for you, it still likely needs the Firmware Upgrade amd it does no harm to try. I hope you have read the FAQ sheet! That is always being updated (a new update went to the webmaster yesterday from me). It is on the same website as the firmware upgrade. Happy for you!! |

Thanks, Robert! I just reread the faq's this morning, so I think I'm ready to go! I have the firmware upgrade on my computer, so this evening once it's fully charged, I'll upgrade that! By the way, the purple one is beautiful! I'm really glad I got that one. It looks darker on the website, but when I received it I was really happy with the color. Darker would have been fine too, but I really like the color it is. And when my oldest daughter saw the screen (she's 9) she was amazed at how much it looks like paper. She's a book worm, and now she wants to save up for one.

1) If Astak is still including an SD card with readers, Include the current (at week of shipment) setupv5.bin file on the card. 2)If you "spot/sample test" the unit, upgrade to the latest while you are testing. |

Thanks! I put a few books on an SD card, just to see how they look. I can't wait to start reading! I'm afraid I'm not going to get much of anything done today... *lol*

That is the file that is inside the (update) RAR file you download from Astak.
You must extract the file: setupv5.bin (current size 127M) You place the current version (only) of that file on the SD Card (in the root directory). When you hold the top (left) page turn button while you turn the PEz on, it will ask you if you want to update. The normal answer is (YES) OK button. It takes some minutes, which is another reason the battery should have a healthy charge level (Full is good). |

Awesome
I'll guess I'll jack this thread and say mine is scheduled to come in tomorrow. I don't know if I'll have any problem updating the firmware, but how should I gear up the batteries so they're good to go? How do you charge them, drain them, etc initially?

Cool! I've got mine plugged into the outlet in the wall. I started charging it around 8:30, so I figure I can unplug it tonight when we put the kids to bed. From what people have said here, it's best to charge it 8-12 hours the first couple times. I don't remember how far you're supposed to drain it the first few times, so I'll let someone else who knows comment on that. I haven't updated my firmware yet, as I'm waiting until this evening when I know it's fully charged. It looks pretty straight forward, but I'll find out for sure tonight!

Do I need to keep the folder "Restore PC" on my SD card?
Thanks. |
