The mythical phone ebook reader?
I see a lot of posts that the majority of people read books on their phone and tablet. I do wonder, for those who are "book readers", how many read the majority of books on their phone.
I'll define a "book reader" as someone who reads at least 10 books a year. So how many "book readers" do you know that read the majority of their books on their phone or tablet? Last edited by John F; 12-06-2023 at 10:33 AM. |

Myself, the vast majority of my reading is on my Kobo. I've never read a complete book on a tablet or phone.

I read all of my books on tablets or phones. Mostly tablets, but the phone gets employed in waiting rooms and other places. 20-30 books a year with my eyes, and another 10 or so with my ears. All of my eink devices have been relegated to the Dufflebag of Unused Electronics long ago. We're definitely not "mythical," we're just not you.

I do nearly all my reading on a 8" tablet. When I was younger and my eyes were better, I used to do all my reading on an ipod touch, before that I used to read on the old Palm Pilots.
I've never had a problem with screen caused eye strain and I enjoy being able to read everything, including closed platform books and web material, on one device. |

I would also be interested in how many people you know, using my definition of a "book reader" who read on there phone and/or tablet.

I read mostly on an ereader. I read on my phone if I've got a few minutes when I'm out somewhere and don't have my ereader with me.

The regular readers I know read mostly physical books. Some (very few) use an e-reader, and none use a tablet or smartphone to read on a regular basis.

I read on a Surface Pro. I carry it everywhere I go. This isn't any different than when I carried hardback books. I also have the added advantage of having my complete Calibre Library with me. Be for electronic books I would carry two books with me if I was close to finishing the first. And it does not bother me since I was never one of the majority in anything. I am part of the silent minority.
