The Dark Tide, by Andrew Gross, is currently 99 cents in the Kindle store and at Fictionwise, but should be free soon (maybe not today, but usually within a day or two of this type of release) in the Kindle store.

On the morning Karen Friedman learns that her husband, a hedge fund manager, has been tragically killed, Detective Ty Hauck begins his investigation of another man's death in a suspicious hit-and-run in Karen's hometown. The two seemingly unrelated tragedies are about to plunge a beautiful widow and a determined investigator into a maelstrom of murder, vast sums of missing money, and international conspiracy.This special free edition includes an excerpt from Andrew Gross's newest novel, Reckless.

For those with a nook or mobile (sorry, ereader format only), check Fictionwise. I doubt they will drop all the way to free, but with the current MARCH2010 coupon for 10% off and a club membership, it'll only cost you 65 cents each and you'll get 29 cents back in micropay.

ahh man. and I got all excited thinking this was McKiernan's Darktide [which I've never seen any in the trilogy in ebook format] :-(

It may be "free soon," (I really don't know); but, the release date is shown as "March 23," and is on preorder status for the .99 cents.

Read the cover - it says "free edition". This has occurred with all the other free pre-orders lately (there are three right now). They drop to free (sometimes to a penny first) just before they release or the day of release. I don't advocate buying now (although, really a dollar for this or the Feist book is a good deal), but watching it to buy when it drops. If I know it will be free in a week or two, I won't buy the more expensive edition that is already there or elsewhere, either.

Yea, I missed it too. Amazon still not letting me pre order the free one without a credit card. If it is free why do they need CC#? I have never needed one for the free books for Kindle PC before.
