Copying files to device, do not change metadata
When sending epub books to my device (Cybook Orizon), with no plugboard defined, calibre not only copies the files, but also modifies the metadata (of the file in the device, not the one in the calibre library).
For different reasons, I have some books where I have slightly changed the metadata in calibre, but do not wish to alter the book files. Is it possible to have calibre just copy the files, without modification, when using "send to device"? This would also be faster when sending many books, I guess. |

Exactly

The reason I don't want to use that (apart from pride and convenience) is that I also want Calibre to generate the thumbnail in the device-specific format, which is done by the device plugin, but not if I copy the book through other methods. |

I think I've tried that (it's set to manual now, but I don't remember if it was when I transferred the books I've checked), but the description of the different options does not seem to fit exactly what I want. I'd say "metadata management" refers to the handling of the device database (if there is one), and not to the ebook files themselves.

Go to preferences->plugins and disable the metadata writer plugin for epub.
