Of course Amazon is going to dress this up to make themselves look better. No business is going to tell you “yeah we made a change so our goods are prioritized in search results because we like making money” |

The video is from the Wall Street Journal dated the 23rd of August. The article is on MSN, dated today. The topic of each is totally different. The only connection is that both are about Amazon.

The video is about unsafe products being sold on Amazon the article is about Amazon changing their search algorithm to prioritize their own products.
If Amazon gave a damn about safety they’d simply remove unsafe products and bar the manufacturer from listing again after say three strikes. Did you actually read the article where it states numerous entities are concerned that this is an antitrust issue since Amazon would be prioritizing their own more profitable products over anything else? Do you understand that the article as neutral as it is made very clear that this is a sketchy move on Amazon’s part? |

" an incentive system for engineers to build features that directly or indirectly improve profitability"
"Relevance is no longer an option in the small “sort by” drop-down button on the top right of the page" A marketplace behemoth using its dominance to crush competition - not earth-shattering news, but interesting, and a nice heads up for the next time I have to search Amazon for something. Thanks. And of course it really and truly IS all about "safety": Preserving the safety of what matters most - Amazon's profit margins |

Barb...Quote the part of that article that has anything to do with removing unsafe or counterfeit items. Copy and paste it here.
The dangerous magnet toys have been in and out of the news since at least 2017. Consumer Reports did a story about them back then. Last edited by Deskisamess; 09-16-2019 at 06:10 PM. |
