We're getting ready to be hit with 20-25cm of snow between this afternoon and through tomorrow. My drive home usually takes 10 minutes. The last time we had more than 3cm it took 2 hours to get home

. Can't wait for that ridiculous drive tonight

. The schools will probably be shut down tomorrow since nobody around here knows how to drive in the snow.

The snow is missing us - heading towards New England.

We're getting heavy rains tonight & tomorrow - with wind! Coolish temps.

Rain has already gotten here. Haven't seen much in the way of wind, but I just came out of giving a 2 hour lecture, so I haven't looked outside in a bit.

Right now the sun is peeking out from under a layer of clouds as it sets.

Tonight, the snow that's headed for New England will be coming through. Each time they update the weather forecast the expected snowfall goes up. It's shaping up to be a classic "French toast emergency."*

Still, by the beginning of next week the temperature is due to be well above freezing, so it shouldn't last too long.

* I first heard this term from a friend. We were discussing pre-storm crowds in a supermarket, buying all the milk, bread and eggs they could carry. He decided they must all be making French toast.

. I'm at work for a bit though just to make sure everything's set up before I leave.

Unusual for me but I didn't even make the attempt to go to work because of the snow. Seemed like a good excuse for a long weekend.

Of course I will probably be spending the entire day clearing the driveway.

Our temps are hovering right around freezing. I'm watching the snow turn into rain, and then back into snow. Not too much to shovel just yet, but what is there is heavy and wet.

I just finished (about 15-20 minutes ago) cleaning the driveway for the 2nd time. Already cannot tell it was done. It is completely snow covered again. But at least the snow is light.

Fourth time shovelling today. 90cm drifts. Snowplows have just finished clearing the street by dumping everything onto the end of my driveway and the sidewalk I just finished clearing. *sigh*

I am going to wait until morning to clean the driveway, again. The way the snow is falling and swirling around there really is no point.

I was attempting to give my back a break by shovelling in small amounts rather than all in one go. Unfortunately, the snowplow made it an exercise in futility ...
