Update for jailbroken Paperwhite

Many moons ago, I bought refurbished Kindle Paperwhite from Aliexpress. I installed Jailbreak, Collection Manager and Kual with few goodies, like KOReader, BBB firewall, Back Door Lock...

But Amazon soon blacklisted my device, because it have some generic serial number. And i give up with software updates, and use Kindle just for reading - blasphemy, I know

So, what i need to do now, after many years, to update software (any) to new versions? I presume firmware is out of the question, but what about KOReader and other apps from Kual? Just to copy new version to /extensions folder and overwrite old one?

My firmware is 5.3.1

Have you tried updating manually?

It's just a click and drag to your root directory or /mnt/us, then click on update.

Careful though, if you're on paperwhite 3 or 4 and want to maintain jailbreak, you may need to look at the developer's corner first.

According to wiki, this is Paperwhite 1. I presume its safe to update to firmware 5.6.1.1?

What about other apps, like KOReader, KUAL, etc? Can I just copy archive in /extensions folder, overwriting old one?

You should be able to, but it's safer to use 'mrpackages' to install your packages when available.

It's safe enough to overwrite KOReader, you can back-up those folders first if you have doubts.
