Maybe I missed it, but it didn't show up when I searched at Kindle UK

Silverview is John le Carré's (presumably) last, posthumously-published, novel. It's on sale at Kindle UK for £0.99 as part of today's Daily Deal. Reviews (NY Times, Guardian - written by Mick Herron of Slough House fame) have been generally positive.

Quote:
Julian Lawndsley has renounced his high-flying job in the City for a simpler life running a bookshop in a small English seaside town. But after only a couple of months into his new career, Edward, a Polish émigré, shows up at his door with a very keen interest in Julian's new enterprise and a lot of knowledge about his family history. And when a letter turns up at the door of a spy chief in London warning him of a dangerous leak, the investigations lead him to this quiet town by the sea . . .

Silverview is the mesmerising story of an encounter between innocence and experience and between public duty and private morals. In this last complete masterwork from the greatest chronicler of our age, John le Carré asks what you owe to your country when you no longer recognise it.

If you missed it back in 2018, you'll have to pay a buck more now, but $2.99 is still not too bad. And...this is another one of those non-Amazon ebook ones. The links below are still good.

A couple of years later, this is $1.99 again in the US, and this time, it's matched at Kobo, where it's also discountable. The Kindle link below is still good, and here's the Kobo US link: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-knowledge-17

Garden of Sins is the sixth and most recent (2022) in Laura Joh Rowland's Sarah Bain/Victorian mystery series. I haven't read any of this series, but have really liked the books I've read in her Sano Ichiro series - which don't go on sale often enough!

Garden, however, is on sale in the US ($2.99) and UK (£2.15) right now.

Quote:
Award-winning author Laura Joh Rowland is back with the sixth in her critically acclaimed Victorian Mystery series in which Sarah must search for the killer of a woman she found murdered on a train all the while waiting for the verdict of her father's trial for heinous crimes committed two decades earlier.

London, November 1890. Crime scene photographer Sarah Bain Barrett faces a perfect storm of events. She and her husband Detective Sergeant Barrett are riding on a train that crashes. While rescuing other passengers, they find a woman who's been strangled to death. Their search for her identity and her killer lead them to Cremorne Gardens, a seedy riverside pleasure park that's a combination carnival, theater, freak show, and museum of oddities. It's among the most challenging cases that Sarah, Barrett, and her friends Lord Hugh Staunton and Mick O'Reilly have ever undertaken. The suspects include a dwarf, a female acrobat, and a member of the Royal Family. Due to the royal connection, the police commissioner declares the case top-secret. Sarah and company must investigate on the quiet, keeping the suspects, the press, and the public in the dark. That's easier said than done. The investigation is complicated by the injury Hugh sustained during their last case, Mick's romance with a woman who has psychic powers, and Barrett's old flame.

Meanwhile, Sarah's father Benjamin Bain goes on trial for a rape and murder that happened more than two decades ago. The victim was a teenage girl named Ellen Casey. Is Benjamin Bain as innocent as he claims? Sarah has serious doubts. The trial is the scandal of the year, a media blitz. The outcome--and the truth about the murder on the train--are beyond Sarah's wildest imaginings. What dangerous secrets are hidden behind the tawdry glamor of Cremorne Gardens? Is Benjamin Bain wrongly accused, or a guilty sinner who deserves to be hanged?

Cleopatra's Dagger is a non-series title by Carole Lawrence, which, per SYKM, is one of multiple pen names for Carole Buggé. (She's better known, I think, for her Ian Hamilton/Edinburgh series.) I haven't read any of her books, but Dagger ticks off a couple of my favorite themes - historical mysteries and Egyptian history - and it has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK, as part of today's Daily Deal. So I'll probably give it a try. Since it's Thomas & Mercer, it's also KU, so if you have a KU subscription in either the US (where it's not on sale, at least right now) or the UK, you can also read it for free.

A journalist in nineteenth-century New York matches wits with a serial killer in a gripping thriller by the prizewinning author of the Ian Hamilton Mysteries.

Spoiler:
Quote:
New York, 1880. Elizabeth van den Broek is the only female reporter at the Herald, the city’s most popular newspaper. Then she and her bohemian friend Carlotta Ackerman find a woman’s body wrapped like a mummy in a freshly dug hole in Central Park—the intended site of an obelisk called Cleopatra’s Needle. The macabre discovery takes Elizabeth away from the society pages to follow an investigation into New York City’s darkest shadows.

When more bodies turn up, each tied to Egyptian lore, Elizabeth is onto a headline-making scoop more sinister than she could have imagined. Her reporting has readers spellbound, and each new clue implicates New York’s richest and most powerful citizens. And a serial killer is watching every headline.

Now a madman with an indecipherable motive is coming after Elizabeth and everyone she loves. She wants a good story? She may have to die to get it.

Neither £2.99 nor $4.99 is a particularly good sale price for 12-year-old backlist, but Susan Wittig Albert's books so rarely go on sale, and eReaderIQ doesn't show this one ever on sale for less, so here you go if you want it!

And it is an enjoyable series, IMO...

Click on the little graph-looking thing under the green "Get It" button and the red price, and it will expand into a larger graph.

Or, if you have installed the eRiq plug-ins, the graph should show up automatically, a few seconds after you open the book's Amazon webpage.

Let me know if you need a screenshot!

Some folks upthread, way upthread by now , liked the John Jordan series by Michael Lister. Now the 27th in the series, Out for Blood, is free at Kindle US and UK.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091D5WQPY
Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B091D5WQPY

Spoiler:
Quote:
Someone close to legendary detective John Jordan is murdered and now he is . . . OUT FOR BLOOD!

Lister’s sterling new novel, featuring empathic chaplain-turned–sheriff’s investigator John Jordan, finds Jordan nearing a turning point in his storied career.

His longtime boss and close friend, Sheriff Reggie Summers, has lost a reelection bid and has just weeks to go in her tenure—and Jordan’s not a fan of her successor. Meanwhile, he’s thrust into a high-profile case.

While investigating the brutal attack of two teenage girls, Ava Branch and Olivia Colvin, Jordan uncovers the shocking secrets someone is willing to kill for. Still, he never suspects the killer's next victim will be someone he cares about so much.

Can John solve not one but two baffling murders and protect those he loves?

“The inquiry takes multiple surprising and violent turns, including one that will shock series fans. The final reveals are brilliantly conceived and executed. This impressive blend of procedural and fair-play whodunit should win Lister new fans.” Publisher's Weekly Starred Review

Read OUT FOR BLOOD today and see why Michael Connelly calls Michael Lister a “master storyteller” and why Publisher's Weekly says, “Lister expertly balances emotion and detection while doling out logical, gut-wrenching twists.”
