Very rare book, an early American female detective, who appeared only in these five stories, illustrated by stills from a silent movie.

The author (1884-1934) was mostly a screenwriter for the silent movies, and I think it shows in his writing style, which leans to melodrama, the very essence of the silent movies.

2. The Missing Bridegroom
3. Cinderella's Slipper
4. The Bullet from Nowhere
5. The Purple Thumb

The first story is a novelette of some 20,000 words.
