What are the 10" readers? Looking for some owners
Hello,
One thing I would like to my future new ereader is reading PDF on it, especially RPG books. I would like to know how it renders and if it's enough large to be read. I know that the Forma can goes landscape but I'm not sure it's big enough for full pages and Kobo isn't really effective with PDF to begin with. Thanks! |

Pocketbook renders PDF pretty good given that it's PDF and the Pocketbook Inkpad X is a 10.3" Reader.

Your Kobo Aura One can be a very good 8" pdf reader if you install Koreader app thereon.
We can read two-column RPG pdfs using Koreader's two column mode (four screens per pdf page), and if we want to quickly see the whole page for a moment, we just have to tap on the upper left corner for the little triangle to appear (triggers its pan mode), and then tap it again for the return of the two-column mode, or we can simply use two-finger pinch in/out, or various available multiswipes. If all the margins have not been sufficiently cut using auto or semi-auto mode, we can use manual mode, or we can quickly crop margins on our PC/Mac instead, using Briss app or K2pdfopt. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=330673 We can also use Briss for the quick cropping of two-column pdf into one-column pages, so that we can simply use fit-to-width mode if our eink reader doesn't have two-column mode or it is not quick enough for our liking. 10" is better for A4 or bigger RPG pdfs, because it usually takes only two screens per page (in landscape mode), but if the size of the fonts is still not big enough for our liking, even with the margins cropped, we can then use two-column mode in portraite (four screens per page) or a pan-mode if available.

This shows KOReader on a Kobo Aura H2O vs a Pocketbook Inkpad for PDF. Just remember, that the Kobo is older with a 6.8" screen the Forma has an 8" screen so PDF will look better on the Forma. And you can get a 10.3" Pocketbook or a 7.8" Pocketbook.

RPG are somewhat problematic because their margins are not empty but made of graphics, so, the reflow mode is not usually working as desired, and using pan-zoom mode can be too slow for our liking. Last edited by Marinolino; 07-25-2020 at 03:50 PM. |

Boox makes a 10 inch ereader. They run android, which in my opinion is a mistake on a 16 levels of grey display; android doesn't do or know anything about such a limited palette. But if you only use it to read books that's probably not a big deal. They're a Chinese company and their support is spotty; e.g., promising to fix things and provide updates but they never arrive.
Pocketbook seems to be a much more reliable company. They've been around for a while and they're popular in Europe. The interface and UI is well done. And in the US you can buy their ereaders from newegg. |

Onyx note is 10". Onyx is best because of solid hardware and excellent pdf reading app called neoreader. I have a 7.8" and 6". Onyx is best for pdf imo. You can divide columns and split into panels and change page navigation.
I use koreader on the onyx and a nook and it's generally not as good except it has a nightmode. Koreader might be be fine on a 10" in landscape as you won't need to split pdf into panels. Definatrly try koreader on your aura first. |
