Doesn't show any content of CF or SD
Hi,
i have a first gen iLiad and haven't used it a long time. Yesterday i tried to look at some PDFs i have and filled my CF card with content. I inserted in the iLiad, opened the CF but it showed up abolultley empty. I tried a different CF card, same. Then i tried a SD card. Same. USB Stick works. I also tried to restore it via CF described like here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17343 but that didn't work. Just booted up normally. Any ideas? |

What capacity is your CF card? Did it ever work with your iLiad? Is your SD card's capacity 1GB or less? |

I'm pretty sure that that card was working. It is 1Gb and i tried also one with 2Gb. The SD Card is 4GB. They are all fresh formatted and writeable via Windows. Do i have a better chance with a completetly new MMC Card? If so i buy one...

On the iLiad the SD card capacity is limited to 1 GB (MMC spec), not sure why the CF card isn't working. I'm using a Kingston 1GB CF card, that sometimes doesn't get recognized. A reboot usually helps to fix that.

Are there any constraints on CF size?

I think I read somewhere (long time ago) that 8 GB is maximum, people reported they got this working. But the filesystem of the iLiad only shows that 4 GB are available.
Here's an overview of what people reported "from the field": https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Iliad_Memorycards_list just noticed that someone reported he got a 32 GB CF card working... That's the theoretical limit for a FAT32 filesystem |

OK i just bought a 1GB MMC and a 4GB CF Card and they are both working now factory formatted. Don't know what the problem with the other cards is, but i'm happy now. Thank you!

How did you format them? If they got formatted under Windows as NTFS, then they won't work. They need to be FAT or FAT32, I believe. Not sure if that was your problem though.
