Correct. It isn't practical as a way of getting the device to sleep. But, for waking it when the screenshot mode is enabled, it works.

That's the way Kindle does it. I agree the Kobo method is awkward by comparison.

I didn’t know how Screenshot works. I clicked on it. Did not see anything happening. When I plugged my Kobo to my computer, I saw one screenshot at the bottom of the files on the Kobo.
