I'm saving my vote until my PW actually arrives. However, I played around with the Nook Glowlight at BN and I was pretty disappointed. There was way too much visable light shining from the edges and the lighting was not very balanced. I suspect, if Amazon really spent 4 years of R&D on the light guide, these faults will not be in the PW.

I love the Nook Glowlight so much that I rarely use my Kindles or Sony T-1. I find the lighting to be balanced and am not aware of any visible light around the edges when I'm reading. However, I haven't pre-ordered the Paperwhite because I can't justify the expense when I already own all these perfectly good readers. Perhaps when my Glowlight dies....

If you were thinking about one of these devices (Paperwhite, Glowlight, Glo) I would wait until they all ship and can be compared. I expect B&N will be updating Glowlight to use 1024x768 screen, so I wouldn't get one of those now, even if you like the current model.

But the other aspect to Paperwhite is that it has capacitative touch, not IR. By all accounts it is much more responsive, doesn't have the shadow-casting bezel, and probably you can operate it in a ziplock for 'safe' bathtub and poolside reading.

Can't say that either is better, since I have yet to get my Paperwhite...
