Yes, the recommendation to buy a PB603 instead ($350) was a much better idea. |

[QUOTE=queentess;1378062]Yeah, the Anti-Kindle Movement and Pro-Kindle Movement are both alive and strong. That's why I've removed all reference to devices from my profile -- I've been called a troll for suggesting that someone try one device over another, even though I own several devices. I figured that gives me some experience, so I can help direct a person to the device that's right for them based upon their preferences. But it only leads to attacks. This place isn't as friendly as it once was.
I apologize. I know that I can get caught up in that mess. I am learning to put people on my ignore list so I don't read what they post since I seem to have some specific buttons that are easy to push. Overall, I find this to be a very friendly forum. Feel free to drop me a line and let me know if I cross a line in a discussion. Heck, I would suggest that for anyone here. |

I would think the best thing for getting books from kobo would be to download the Kobo desktop app, and plug you Sony into your computer, the device should show up in the desktop app and you can purchase E-books and then sync your Sony.

Now that LadyLou has the ADE figuered out this would complicate matters further without being necessary. ADE works fine to download all epubs but B&N's

One point though, that I have found in a purchased e-pub book is one referred to in one of my original posts and that is the double 'll' this still crops up with consistency even in a purchased epub and I wondered if this is some kind of quirk that has yet to be ironed out.[QUOTE] LadyLou, you might be interested in this thread. |

Many many thanks - a quote from the above thread :
There's no point. This is not going to be fixed until the new calibre pdf engine is ready. It is a bug in the poppler pdftohtml program calibre uses. The new pdf engine has a replacement for pdftohtml that I wrote that fixes this issue, but until it is ready, there is no fix. __________________ So at least I know now that I am not the only one with this 'problem'. phew! |

whew.
I'm glad you're able to read a book now LadyLou. Next time, don't wait a year before you ask a question. As you see threads can turn a little heated a times but overall people around here can be very helpful when they know you're stuck. And we love to talk about our gadgets. |

Just an update to let you know I am now reading quite well from my Sony, but ---------
not wishing to perpetuate yet another Kindle v Sony - I was able to 'get my hands on' a Kindle this week, my thoughts were that it was very light and easy to hold, but then I remembered that I was comparing it to my Sony which has a leather case with light attachment, which does make it heavier. Now another dumb question, are all readers black and white (display) or are there any readers out there that have colour? |
