unencrypted azw books - error importing

Hello -

I am using a common file import filter for AZW books. I can import encrypted azw books fine, but when I import unencrypted ones I get this error:

It seems to import ok, and I can convert to .mobi after, but I'm curious what this error means. Does anyone know?

Also, it would be great to automatically convert to .mobi on import. Is this possible?

(Windows 7 and Calibre 0.6.34)

Do you have a custom plugin (for example a de-drm plugin) installed?

Yes, got that far. Actually, by commenting out
#print i + ": not PID for book"

by adding the line
return path_to_ebook

instead, and it processes the unencrypted books fine! Even gets the metadata right.

If I could trouble you for one more bit if information...
Is converting unencrypted azw to mobi just changing the file extension?

If so, any chance you'd send me a code snippet to change
path_to_ebook (remove azw, add mobi)?

My python scripting is non-existent...
