"The Hofmann Wobble" by Ben Lerner
The latest Harper's Magazine has an 8,700 word short story by Ben Lerner nominally about the susceptability of wikipedia to manipulation. It is of note that it is in the form of autofiction, which seems to be a thing, and one of which Lerner is a master.
The story is at: https://harpers.org/archive/2023/12/...orical-memory/ A reaction from wikipedia is at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipe...rmation_report I first heard about it on NPR/WBUR Here and Now https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2023...a-facts-danger which casts excessive shade on wikipedia given the many decades long manipulation of newspapers, radio, and television by government and industry. |
