Try launching KOReader in no framework mode from KUAL.
PW1 was renowned for its quirks with UI being drawn |

KOReader on PW1 is basically unusable if you don't start it with "no framework" option. It would constantly reboot because out of memory issues. Even starting the kindlet version of KUAL (to then use it to start KOReader) is exercise in building patience, and that can also lead to OS reboot.
When my PW5 bricked itself and I was forced to read on my old PW1 those "open KUAL, start KOReader" gremlins annoyed me enough that I've sat down and define search bar commands ( ;ko, ;koa & ;konf) to be able to start KOReader without needing to use KUAL. |

I tried this method. there is no screensaver when the book goes to sleep. When you exit koreader, the book reboots. but I saw that if you open the book from the home screen, and not through kual and koreader, there is no such problem.

Yes, this is expected - in no framework mode everything Kindle is turned off, ibcluding screensavers. But at least you can read.
KPVbooklet is not supported at all, don’t use it |

I don’t use kpv booklet and it’s not installed. The ability to open books from the desktop appeared after installing librariansync. everything works fine and there are no problems.

This is exactly what KPVbooklet does
![]() Again, don’t use that feature. Open books only from KOReader, or use it at your own risk (no support promised). |

LibrarianSync only lets you sort books into collections, it has nothing to do with KOReader itself.

Hello, I just installed Koreader on my newly jailbroken Kindle Paperwhite 3 today. I use the wireless device connection feature to transfer my books directly from Calibre to my Kindle. However, I set the wrong Inbox directory for storing sent documents and would like to change it to a different folder. How do I do that?

kemala.ang found the solution themselves in the meantime:
Settings > Calibre > Wireless Settings > Set Inbox Folder |

KOReader won't open
Hi, I have a PW5 Kindle and KOReader is installed yet it won't open. It shows up in KUAL and I've tried all three options of opening it. All it does is go to a nearly white screen with the "Home" and "Library" Kindle buttons on the bottom with a X on the top right, before going back to the Kindle main screen. Is there a fix to this?

I have my PW5 jailbroken with Winterbreak, have KUAL, and downloaded/installed the KOReader hf from January 8 on the day. Despite having everything lined up and installed correctly, when I try to open KOReader via KUAL my PW5 freezes completely and I have to do a hard restart. Does anyone know what is going wrong? I'd really like to use KOReader on my PW5 as I used it on my old Boox and it was great.

You might want to try the version from https://fw.notmarek.com/khf/. Click on KOReader to download Marek's latest version which has worked for me. So far the ones from KOReader's Nightlies have not worked on my PW4/WinterBreak. As of today, the version from there is koreader-kindlehf-v2024.11-131-g5cd9494ae_2025-01-10.targz (please note the odd targz extension). Under Windows I use 7-Zip to open the file (right-click, 7-Zip => Open archive). You may need to rename it to .tar.gz otherwise.
