calibre doesn't see really old Sony ereader

I have a really, really old Sony ereader (maybe 2011?) that I'd like to give away. I'm currently charging it, and it will turn on and I can see the books that are on it and open a book.

But when I connect it to my computer, Calibre can't see it to use Calibre to side load books.

Is there any way that I can get Calibre to see the device? I'm not sure it's usable without that.

thanks!

That looks like a PRS-650. Without calibre running and you plug it into your computer's USB port does the computer see it as another drive?

No, even when I don't have Calibre running, my computer doesn't see the Sony.

You have to fix that first.
Open Windows Device Manager (right click Start) and scroll down to USB and see if the are Yellow icons.
BTW Be sure to plug the device into a USB2 port

so done, or at least I think so - I plugged the cord into a USB outlet on my computer rather than at a hub - is that right?. And I didn't see any yellow icons.

Well, what ever I just did, it seems to have worked. I see the reader in my File Explorer and in Calibre. Thank you - maybe having it connected to the computer directly rather than via the hub was the magic step.
