Wow. If the government thinks they might've done something wrong, that might make people think they've done something wrong. So, let's just forgive them, just in case, so they won't look bad. Pushing back the trial won't help their image, it will only push off the damage to their image. Typical Apple filibustering. Last edited by eschwartz; 04-25-2014 at 04:26 PM. |

I guess that depends on whether the class action lawsuits would be continued if Apple wins its appeal and is found not guilty of being part of the anti-trust conspriacy (and according to various pundits at the WSJ, Forbes, and this forum, it will win on appeal). If Apple is vindicated and the class action lawsuits are dropped because the court says they weren't part of the conspiracy, then their reputation will be needlessly tarnished by the notices of the class action lawsuit. They're not suggesting that the class action lawsuits be dropped at this time, just that the trial should be indefinitely delayed until they exhaust all appeals.

I can't imagine that the vast majority of Apple's consumer base even knows about the ebook settlement, let alone have an opinion about it.
It's those of us that love ebooks first (then maybe or maybe not Apple) that may allow this *coughcough* to affect our opinions of the company. I had other reasons to dislike Apple, but Agency Pricing kicked me into the active, I'm-definitely-not-buying-any-of-their products disgust. |
