EE Times on the Que ProReader

There is an article in the current (January) issue of EE Times that may be of interest here. They carry it on-line in multiple sections starting here -- http://www.eetimes.com/showArticle.j...leID=222300001

Curious thoughts on foldability from 3rd page --

"Canova hopes the ProReader will be successful enough to fund future design projects that pioneer other market categories. However, despite the fact the company owns a foldable display, he does not foresee the much discussed foldable e-reader coming anytime soon.

"While we can make a flexible display, I can't make a flexible product because there are other technologies it requires that are still rigid," he said. "It takes a whole eco-system to make a flexible product.

"Customers don't mind a semi-rigid product, in part because some associate flexible with flimsy," he said, adding that a foldable system is a decade or more away. "

Yikes! We have a decade or more until we can fold?! Heavy sigh.

a whole fold-able SYSTEM. Fold-able displays are real now and one company will show that this year in a device for retail(not just prototype).

He didn't say exactly what specific "eco-system" components are a problem today. I don't understand that comment since you can have any number of PCB's attached to folding sections and interconnected with flexible ribbon cables.
