What can I say about Palm Addicts other than to assure you that its Editor in Chief, Sammy McLoughlin, has built one of the best Palm sites on the entire Web. Must admit that I wasn't even sure if Palm were still in the PDA business at all! In this neck of the woods at least, Windows Mobile seems to have well and truly "won" the battle.

They still offer the Z22, E2, and TX, but current development efforts are concentrated on smartphones like the various Treo models and the Centro. Those include PDA functionality, but aren't pure PDAs. Much to the disgust of Palm OS fans, we are unlikely to see a TX upgrade, or anything else that isn't a smartphone.

They spun a WM based Treo to go after the corporate market, which runs Windows and Office on the desktop, Outlook for email, and an Exchange Server on the back end in the data center. A WM device running Pocket Word, Excel, and Outlook with ActiveSync to talk to Exchange Server is a much easier sell than than a Palm OS Garnet device.

I prefer Palm OS, but I can't argue with their reasoning. I'd do the same thing.
