Samsung announces 32GB microSd cards for February

http://www.samsung.com/us/news/press...earch_keyword=

Of course it doesnt mention a price

Is there really a need for on board storage in an ereader now that flash chips- even micro- have such capacity?

No. I think readers should come with zero internal storage, and should just have an SDHC card reader. Or maybe even 2 SDHC card reader slots!

Given that some people have reported differences of battery life between internal vs. SD/external memory, I'll stick with some internal and expandable slots.
