What does this mean?
WARNING: Could not convert some books: Could not convert the book because no supported source format was found
Please explain it as you would to a 4 year old child (that's my level of technical ability) Thanks! |

My guess is that you initiated a conversion for a book that has no convertible formats, e.g:
See ==>> What formats does calibre support conversion to/from? And, perhaps you inadvertently pressed 'C' which is the keyboard shortcut for Convert, see ==>> Keyboard shortcuts BR Last edited by BetterRed; 11-26-2020 at 04:59 AM. |

Uh! Around here, many parents ask their child for help with modern tech.
BR's question is a good one. WERE you trying to do a conversion (C) or just send a book to your device (Conversions can be done as needed, on the fly). Your Profile says Kindle. Including model and Gen helps us be more detailed to fit that device. It may be that you had Calibre poorly configured. (preferences: Behavior: Preferred Output: AZW3 is common for Kindles ) Notice below that is a list of formats that Calibre can handle. Some provide nicer conversions than others (IMHO leave PDF pretty far down). The order is what it looks at to choose from, if multiple formats exist for that book. |

I assume that you mean converting from pdf can be bad, I assume that converting to PDF isn't too bad.
I mean, a certain website that sells ebooks of old mystery and sci-fi stories/novellas/novels that they've digitized (presumably either legally under US law because of the old renewal thing not being done or because they acquired the copyrights) stopped providing pdfs and started saying that those who need PDFs can take the kindle version and convert via Calibre. Anyway, I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread by asking if this'd be the error message you'd get if you tried to convert something with DRM that hadn't been bypassed? |

DRM: good idea (and I have no clue as to the message it would have popped) OP Can you VIEW (with Calibre), your source? (You won't be able to View DRM'd books with Calibre) |

Thank you all for your responses! The file says EPUB when I download it, but then I see that it has the end thingy? extension? whatever ".acsm" which does not appear to be supported by calibre.
I'm borrowing the book online from my local library. I have borrowed many kindle books without issue. Does anyone know about "Overdrive EPUB" ? I think that the .acsm is called ebook-epub-adobe on the Overdrive/library page. |

Someone asked what kind of kindle? It's just the basic model ... I think it might be called a "touch" but when I look it up on my amazon account it just says "Kindle 8th generation"

Thank you! I figured out how to read the book on my PC. Is there any way to convert it to .azw or MOBI and transfer it via USB cable to my kindle?

Not without removing the DRM, which is morally grey for library books. And probably tricky, since the Apprentices won't give any help with that.
