Kindle iOS app + duplicate collections

I have a weird problem that's driving me nuts. On my Kindle (and hubby's) we have a set of collections, some for him, some for me, but on my iPhone and both our iPads in the Kindle app they are duplicated.

I daren't delete one on the app as knowing my luck I'll delete the one that's on the Paperwhite and some of the collections have over a hundred books in them.

Has anyone else seen this? I've tried de-registering and re-registering and it's hasn't made any difference.

I wasn't sure wether to post here or in the apple forum.

I am not sure if this will fix it on the ios, but on the android I deregister and then clear the cache/data. Then I reregister and that usually fixes the issue.

Thanks nynaevelan for the tip but it didn't work.

I gambled and removed one of each duplication and I've been lucky (so far), out of 10 duplications I only need to recreate 3 collections for a hundred books.

I just wish Cloud Collections would work properly, it's done this before, so no doubt it will do it again

I agree, I just wish I knew what Amazon's programming strategy was. Which device is first, which ones controls the collections? How often do they update to their server? When you add a new device how do you get them on the new device without creating a "fake" collection?

I have some very large collections and they always seem to mess up on my paperwhite, but then I end up with dupes on my android. And creating/editing collections on the android is a nightmare, it always keeps trying to download books and put it on the device.

Thank goodness I am the only one on my account or this nightmare would be so much worse.

I'm not sure Amazon has a firmware strategy. They seem to have different programming groups for various devices and apps and these groups do not appear to be coordinated, nor do they seem to communicate well with one another. Maybe that should be expected from a merchandise company that stumbled back-a$$-wards into having an eBookstore and readers. They have certainly screwed up Collections from the beginning and don't seem to be making much improvement.
